Revenue

Beginner

Revenue (or 'top line') is everything the company earned from sales during the period, before any costs are deducted. Revenue is the base for almost every other ratio: margins are shares of revenue, P/S compares price per revenue share. Growing revenue alone says nothing about profitability — for that you need to look at margins.
